A place to learn
Welcome to A Quiet Simple Learning Life. This is my special place to focus on everything learning. I regularly blog at A Quiet Simple Life. But there is so much I want to blog about related to learning that I decided to do a separate blog just for this. That way my regular blog can keep its current character and this one can develop its own.
This isn’t a homeschool blog. This isn’t an education blog. It is a learning blog. I’ll write about books and music and crafts. Play and games and puzzles. Reading and writing and arithmetic. Products I love, books I treasure, discoveries we have, and mistakes I make. Entries based on my own love of learning, my time as a teacher, and my time as a mom.
If you are looking for a blog that talks about making medieval castles out of collected lint and painting them with paints you made from indiginous plants while wearing accurate period costumes handsewn from cloth you spun yourself from the flax you gathered from your certified organic fields… Well, you’ll be disappointed. But if you would like to share the finds and insights and fun of a happily married, forty-ish WAHM/small business owner with a two year old little girl, you will probably be right at home.

Thank you for the invitation. I read AQSL often and I look forward to visiting here too. We love learning and playing games and just being plain old creative at our house.
For the longest time I couldn’t find out where all of my empty cardboard TP rolls were going. Well I found our boys stash. One day they dumped them all out of a drawer in the basement and disappeared with my tape and their scissors. They spent two entire days assembling the most creative marble run. They check the paper towel dispenser in the kitchen often and I can see them start to drool when there are only a few towels left. I wonder what they will build next. They get alot of satisfaction out of making something from nearly nothing.
Looking forward to more creative learning entries.

I love it, what a great idea!
I have a little girl your daughter’s age, and I will be very interested to hear what you are doing with Caroline (and borrowing some of your ideas!)

Oh, I’m excited about this! So much learning takes place in the home with the simplest of things.

Sallie,
I’m so excited about your new blog. This is very timely for me…I have a toddler too (Caroline’s age) and I often feel at a loss in finding meaningful activities to do even though for years I have waited to have my own child to homeschool :). Thank you for sharing…it has already been a great encouragement to me.
I like the post about learning being about the process/journey, not the end. That was good for me to hear.
Blessings,
Kat
